How to Stand Out from Competition And Get Your First Freelancing Job

Hey, What's up?! Hope you are having a good time. Today i'm going discuss about how to stand out your competition and get your first freelancing job! Well, If you ever tried freelancing you will surely know that it's not that easy as you thought it would be. It takes immense concentration on details, good strategic planing, lot's of patience and hard work. And here are a few things you should consider you if you want to get your first freelancing job.

1. YOU MUST COMPLETE YOUR PROFILE TO 100% AND SHOW OFF YOUR SKILLS.

This is the first step you need to make for your thousand steps journey of freelancing. I'm a freelancer, I used to work at different companies for years. And after a good struggle i was able start my own company and be self sufficient. All because of freelancing. Freelancing can turn into your main income source if you want to make it. All you need to do is just put some efforts into it.

2. Write down Unique & Impressive Job applications.

Whenever you are going to apply on a job you will need to write something on the job application. So, why don't you write a couple of short and impressive job applications so that you can use them whenever you are applying for a new job. Write it down so that you don't have to write every time you are going to apply. you can simply copy-paste the thing.

3. Create a portfolio

A portfolio is a digital resume. It carries all the information a client wants to know. Here is an example portfolio. http://quaitbd.wixsite.com/stbadhon . You can create one for free from wix.com. Try to put your portfolio link into your job application. It creates a good impression.

4. Don't Apply on any Job if it has more than 20 applicants.

Clients usually have that much time to visit more than 20-30 applications. I have worked with clients for hiring other freelancers and noticed this. And i even read on some article that If your application is the first one and you have all the skills we need then you have 100% chance of getting that job. So, try to apply on jobs as quickly as possible.

5. Learn & Develop New Skills.

Skills like Web development, App development & Digital Marketing are very popular and demanding skills on the freelancing market. Although there are lot's other skills on demand out there. So, If you are not getting any jobs try to learn something new and demanding. It will surely get you a new job.

6. First Job Takes the Most Time & Effort.

When i started freelancing i didn't had that much skills. All i knew was data entry & web research. After spending a lot of time reading articles on how to get the first freelancing job i decided that i will get my first job by any means. So, i started to offer very low rates. My first work was just 30 minutes task and i made only 0.2 cents out of it. But i was very happy because i knew that it was the beginning. Money wasn't the thing what i was looking for back then. I was looking for reviews & stars. After getting the first review i gradually increased my earnings by learning new things and also maintaining the quality of what i was doing. On my third job i have earned over $200 in a month. So, be consistent. And remember, only one bad review can ruin your freelancing career. So, maintain a very good quality, be honest & confident.

As i said above, Patience, Hard Work and a good strategy is all you need. So, be patient and apply on new jobs. Don't lose hope. If you didn't read my other articles then read those too. It'll help you out with freelancing. Don't hesitate to ask my anything. Subscribe by email to get notified when i publish a new article. Cheers!!

Basic Skills You Need to Start Your Freelancing Career

What's up everyone! Hope everything is going well. Today i'm going to discuss a bit about the basic skills you'll need to start your freelancing career. The interesting fact is you can start with very basic skills like a Computer literacy and Internet browsing skill. Although your English skill plays the vital role. You have to understand what exactly other person is saying to you and reply in a professional manner. Remember, You may work from home but freelancing is just like an ordinary traditional job. Where you have to present your self very professionally or you will not be able to get any jobs. Anyway, Let's begin with the list of basic skills that you need to start freelancing.

1. Conversational English Skill

Freelancing is working in an International market. And you are going to work under a foreign company or client. So, Conversational English skill is a must. It's ok if you cannot speak fluently. What you really need is able to write proper English so that your client can understand you. If you can speak in English but not fluently that's ok too! In fact it's a plus point.

2. Computer Basics

Computer basics are must to have skill. If you don't know how to use a computer properly then freelancing is not your thing. Computers are the work station for freelancers. They complete all their tasks using pc, laptop and even their mobile devices. You can take a Computer basic test from upwork.com or freelancer.com too see if you know enough.

3. Internet Browsing

It feels kind of lame to write about this skill because if you don't know how to browse then you wouldn't be reading this article. By internet browsing i actually meant searching something on google, Able to use Advanced search options and finding the accurate data is something what you need in order to start freelancing as your career.

4. Ms Office, Google Office, Google drive & Dropbox

If you know the basics of Ms Office or just Microsoft Word & Excel it would be enough to start. But you also need to learn about other office programs and cloud sharing tools like google drive & dropbox. This are very basic things you need to know in order to start your freelancing career.

5. Email and Skype

We all know about email and skype. But when it comes to freelancing this two are very important things.
You must know how to handle an email account and how to use skype. Because most of your clients and your clients are going to contact with you via your email or skype. There are even jobs titled as "Email Handling".

If you have all these skills mentioned above you can start your freelancing career. What you need to do is just register on a freelancing market place (website), complete your profile and start looking for jobs. With this skills you'll be able to apply on any entry level jobs. But you need something else to stand out and get the job. On next article i will talk about those things that will help you to stand out from everyone else and get your first job. Till then have a nice day.

Upwork is probably the number one website for freelancing. Upwork has over a million users & each day this site transacts over millions of dollars. There was a time when anyone can register and start applying jobs immediately. But now you need some exceptional skills to get approved by Upwork. You can still register but in order to apply on jobs you need to get approved by Upwork.

2. Freelancer.com

Freelancer.com might be the second biggest freelancing job market on internet. Tons of new jobs are created in every minute. This website don't need any approvals. You can easily register and start applying on jobs.

I'm not a fan of this platform but Fiverr is one of the largest market where you can earn thousands of dollars.

4. Peopleperhour.com

People Per Hour is a platform for hourly contracts. Hourly contract means that you'll get paid for the hours you have worked. This is relatively new website to freelancing market but it got huge in no time. Start your career on this website will be a good choice.
